I have some personal requests during my appointments, what do I do?
You have the right to express a preference to receive services from a particular doctor or nurse. We will do our best to cater to your preferences whenever possible.
Telephone Consultations
Our doctors and nurses offer telephone and video consultations. These can be a useful option instead of to face-to-face reviews (e.g. certain blood test results, extension of Fit notes, specific health advice etc).
I have been asked to Bring in a Urine Sample?
If our team have asked you to bring a urine sample into the surgery, please arrive before 12 Noon.
Home Visits
Where possible telephone before 11am if a home visit is required that day. Apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients are asked to attend the surgery rather than request a home visit. This is due to the extra time home visiting takes.
On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call.
The care that can be offered in a home visit can be affected due to the lack of adequate lighting, examination facilities and equipment. This means that you may not receive as good a service as the doctor may be able to offer if you came to the surgery.
Please note that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the doctor’s decision to decide if a visit is appropriate.
